Inspiration...

I've been thinking about what inspires me recently, and while the visual certainly moves me (check out my Pinterest if you don't believe me http://pinterest.com/amberafterglow/) music really is the key to my soul and to my writing.  If you're my friend on Facebook, you'll already know that I post music like crazy!  So in honor of the music that touches me, I thought I'd post a few videos of my favorite songs and list my playlist as it is right now.

Please Don't Go by Barcelona

All You Wanted by Alison Sudol & Sounds Under Radio

Bloodstream by Stateless

What The Water Gave Me by Florence + The Machine

Fade Into You by Mazzy Star

Poison and Wine by The Civil Wars

Turning Page by Sleeping At Last

Sail by AWOLNATION

This next video I want to preface with saying that it is my villain song.  I heard this one night while watching Malice in Wonderland on Netflix, and it was like magic.  It just fit the scenes I was writing.  The Hubs upon hearing the song and how much I loved it, "You scare me sometimes, you know that?"

Bring Back Her Head by Angelica

My full Playlist is heavy on all things Florence + The Machine and The Civil Wars…I heart them both beyond comprehension. Both are amazingly talented and I've yet to hear a bad song from either,  but for the list below I've only added a few of my favorites from them!

  1. I sooo cannot write to music! I have to watch tv shows or I'll get distracted by the music (I just want to dance). I love your playlist and I usually do one for my books, but after it's written!! Inspiring post nonetheless. I will have to check out the songs!

    1. I can't write to TV! It is so distracting and I get involved with the show, even if it is just one of my boys cartoons!!!

  2. Love your music! I write to music some days, some days not. It depends on the mood. But music is SO MUCH of my inspiration, so even when I'm not writing, music makes me think of my characters. Several of your songs are on my playlists, especially Death Cab and Iron and Wine and Christina Perri and Lykke Li.

Thanks for posting a link to my blog! I'm so glad you found it helpful!

    1. I'm the same way. There are always certain scenes that I need complete silence to write. But music is so integral to get my creative juices flowing. Some of my best ideas have come from driving somewhere mundane, like the grocery store, with my music blaring. My WIP is always running through my head!

I had to link the post, because I loved it! I was so helpful!
